SOUTHAMPTON Airport welcomed Jonathan Frost, the Bishop of Southampton as he visited the airport as part of his tour of the Eastleigh Deanery.

The Rt Rev Dr Jonathan Frost met with Dave Lees, Southampton Airport managing director and Jan Halliday, Southampton Airport director of marketing and communication.

Mr Lees said: “We were delighted to welcome Bishop Jonathan to Southampton Airport and to hear about how the church is working with the local community.”

Bishop Jonathan said: “Whenever possible I fly from Southampton Airport. I love it: ‘human’ scale, accessible parking, friendly staff and, for me at least, a first-class example of why regional airports work so well.

“It was good to spend time behind the scenes with the team that makes Southampton Airport ‘tick’ so effectively.

“Actually, the vocation of a bishop – and of the community he leads and serves – is rather like the work of the team at Southampton Airport: it’s focused on people who are making journeys.”
