THEY are proud of their school – and it shows.
Braishfield Primary School received a big thumbs up from Ofsted inspectors who recognised just how much pride everyone has at being connected with the school.
As a result the Common Hill Road school maintained its good rating with the inspection team recognising how well children progress, and the positive ethos that surrounds the teaching team.
Head teacher Frances Hardy was also singled out for successfully leading a range of improvements, with the governing body also sharing her aspirations.
The inspectors also found:
- Pupils make good progress and achieve well. By the end of Year 6 their attainment has consistently been well above average, particularly in reading and mathematics.
- Teaching is well organised and is mostly planned to provide tasks that match the needs of the different groups in classes which have wide spansof age and ability. This often leads to a good level of challenge for pupils
- The school’s positive ethos fosters pupils’ good behaviour in lessons and around the school. Pupils show mature attitudes to learning.
- Without exception, teachers and support staff express pride at being members of the school.
Speaking of the glowing report Ms Hardy said: “We are delighted with our excellent Ofsted report and outstanding SAT results.
“I am extremely proud of what my pupils and staff have achieved this year.
“We have worked extremely hard and thank all who contributed so positively to the Braishfield Primary School Community.”
Inspectors also highlighted areas to work on if the school was to achieve an outstanding rating. They included improving attainment in writing by giving more feedback and advice and having a high expectation of the presentation of pupil’s handwriting.
