A SOUTHAMPTON man, described by a judge as “a seasoned campaigner” in offending, is again today waking up behind bars.
Stuart Wort, who has 33 previous convictions, appeared at Winchester Crown Court.
Wort, 41, of Honeysuckle Road, Bassett, had been sent for sentence after admitting two burglaries, one of which took place in a kitchen area at Southampton University where he stole a safe.
He had also admitted two counts of shoplifting ten bottles of sun tan lotion from Boots in Southampton on the same day, stealing items from Tesco’s Winchester branch and going equipped to steal.
Wort, whose offending was attributed to heroin abuse, was jailed for 22 months. Mr Justice Royce told him: “You care little for orders of the court.
“You go to prison, come out and offend again. The public are entitled to some protection from you.”
