A PENSIONER who died after crashing a trike into a tree has been named.
Brian Bowley, 72, was riding the three-wheeled Suzuki motorbike when it came off the road.
The inquest was opened on Wednesday in Chandler's Ford by central Hampshire deputy coroner, Simon Burge.
Police launched an investigation into the cause of the accident at 1.20pm on Sunday and have appealed for witnesses.
It happened as Mr Bowley was riding north on Beacon Hill Lane at Corhampton towards Warnford.
The vehicle then came off the road close to the junction with Sailors Lane and struck a tree.
Mr Bowley, from Waterlooville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sergeant Darren Ord from Hampshire Constabulary's Roads Policing unit said: “The man was riding as part of an organised ride-out this afternoon when, for some reason, his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.
“We are investigating the cause of the collision but there is nothing to suggest at this time that the riding was speeding or driving dangerously.
“I'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the trike prior to it.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101, quoting Operation Sandbox.
