A SOUTHAMPTON children’s sports club has been given a boost after it was awarded a grant of £5,000.
The Mighty Athletes sports club which runs five football teams got the grant from the Football Foundation, which will go towards the running costs of the club.
Not only do Mighty Athletes run five football teams the sports club also gives children the opportunity to try out tennis, cricket and rugby. Club secretary Patricia Breen, said: “This is the perfect time for children to get involved in sport and we are really happy with the grant.”
Now the club will be running free training sessions with a Hampshire FA coach at Portswood Recreation Ground in Southamp-ton on August 6, 17 and 24.
For children in Year groups 4 and 5 they will be from 9am to 10am and for those in Year group’s 6 and 7|they will run from 10am to 11pm.
