The cruise ship Balmoral docked in Southampton
A WOMAN had to be winched off a cruise ship sailing from Southampton after becoming seriously ill.
The 85-year-old woman, believed to be from Hampshire, was airlifted off the Balmoral ship by a helicopter from RAF Wattisham in Suffolk.
The drama unfolded at around 7am yesterday off the Norfolk coast.
She was transferred to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital where she is battling a potentially “life-threatening” condition.
The Fred Olsen Cruise Lines ship was sailing from Southampton to Norway.
