FROM magical shadow puppets to fantastic interactive theatre, there is something for every child at The Nuffield Theatre this autumn.

Starting the season off with a delicate touch is Finger and Thumb Theatre.

The magical shadow puppet company returns with its latest show Small Fables (September 21), after its success last year with Circus Bear.

Watch as two people create a menagerie from all around the world appear in front of your eyes.

Big Wooden Horse is coming back to Southampton after a world tour with the hugely successful show Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! (September 28).

A lively piece of interactive theatre by Emmy Award winning author Mo Willems (Sesame Street, Sheep in the Big City, Codename: Kids Next Door), this show has been thrilling children for more than three years.

What’smore, for thefirst timethis season, this show will be in the main auditorium rather than the Studio space – even more room for a pigeon to cause havoc.

Misunderstood Monsters (October 5) is the latest production from children’s theatre Half Moon.

Clydebuilt Puppets present Gingerbread Man (October 12).

See the Gingerbread Man come to life in a world made entirely of biscuits – a treat for every sweet tooth!

The fantasticSea Legs Puppet Theatre bring an adaptation of the Brothers Grimm’s Musicians of Bremen (October 19), a classic fairytale of friendship and courage.

The audience can even meet the puppets afterwards!

There’s a real treat for the family over half-term, as Scamp Theatre’s stage adaptation of Stick Man (October 29 – November 2) comes to The Nuffield’s main stage!

This fantastically popular show has completed three sell-out international tours and two runs in London’s West End and it’s coming back for more.

Audiences can see the much-loved book brought to life by a trio of actors, featuring puppetry, catchy tunes and funky moves.

The wonderfully quirky Soap Soup Theatre is journeying back to Southampton with The Snow Baby (November 9).

Having brought its reinvention of Little Red Riding Hood to the Nuffield last autumn, expect more of the same beautiful table top puppetry, imaginative storytelling and funny bits!

A family classic hits the main stage, with the new adaptation of Pinocchio (November 16) written by acclaimed children’s author Michael Rosen.

To round off the season, two brilliant companies haveteamed upfortheirfirst co-production.

Theatre Hullabaloo and Theatre Iolo bring Luna (November 23), a beautiful new tale about how the lonely moon helps a little boy overcome his fear of the night-time.

No children’s season would be complete without a classic familyChristmas showandthisyear is nodisappointment – The Nutcracker (December 5-January 12).

Based on the original tale by E T A Hoffman, this family play is a feast of colour, song and fantasy. Without a sugar plum fairy in sight, this darkly magical story is the ultimate Christmas show!
