THE NEW Forest Show got off to a soggy start today as heavy rain lashed the huge arena at New Park, Brockenhurst.
After weeks of scorching heat, shorts and sunglasses gave way to coats and wellies as the heavens opened.
But despite the weather long queues built up on the A 337 between the Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst as thousands of spectators headed for the 35 acre showground.
A minor two car collision briefly added to the congestion.
Despite the downpour show events went ahead as planned, with organisers confidently forecasting would disappeared by lunchtime.
Show bosses are hoping for good weather tomorrow when the earl and countess of Wessex are due to visit the attraction.
