ELEVEN medals belonging to Hampshire war hero the late Major-General William Corson Holden have sold at auction for £7,200.
The Military Cross, Distinguished Service Order, Commander of the British Empire and eight other medals were awarded to the former soldier, who lived at Parsons Mead, Beaulieu, until his death in 1955.
They were sold at Spink in Bloomsbury, London.
At the same auction, three medals awarded to Southampton-born soldier, Sergeant Arthur William Ferrett, fetched £380.
