HE is the international singing star who has performed duets with Kanye West, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

Now crooner Michael Buble has found himself another singing partner – Martin Murphy, from Eastleigh.

Telephone salesman Martin, 42, was plucked from the audience at a Buble concert to perform with the Canadian star in front of thousands at London’s O2 Arena.

Martin is no stranger to temporary stardom, having performed Angels with British pop legend Robbie Williams in September 2000 in front of more than 400 people and five million listeners on Radio 1.

In his latest brush with fame, Martin attended a live show at the O2 and wrote on a banner: “Can I sing Everything with you?”

Michael spotted the banner and was joined by Martin as they sang his wedding song, Everything, to his wife in front of 20,000 people.

Michael’s face is seen on a series of YouTube videos lighting up as he realises how good his new singing partner’s voice is.

Martin, who got married to Hayley three months ago, was delighted to be on stage with the man whose songs he performs at local venues such as La Margharita in Town Quay.

He said: “I’m a local singer, I sing Michael Buble’s songs at venues in Southampton and I’ve always been a huge fan. I sang with Robbie Williams back in September 2000 and I didn’t think lightning could strike twice, and yet it did!

“It felt like it was just me and him at first, as we were facing away from the crowd. Then we turned around and I heard a cheer from 20,000 people.

We sang for my wife, Hayley.

“He was a class act.

Not many artists would do that!”

Martin has been covering songs for 24 years and, although he says the chance to turn professional has passed, will continue to carry on singing to audiences in Southampton for free.
