ALEXEI Sayle has burst back onto the comedy circuit with his first fulllength solo stand-up show in more than 17 years.

After his hit comeback performances at Soho Theatre, Sayle hits the road in the autumn on a new UK tour, including a date at Southampton’s Nuffield theatre.

Alexei’s varied career spans work as comic, novelist, actor and columnist.

His television comedy career includes six series of Alexei Sayle’s Stuff for the BBC, playing the whole Balowski family in The Young Ones, and several films in The Comic Strip Presents series.

Alexei’s 2008 series about his home town, Alexei Sayle’s Liverpool, was one of the BBC’s flagship events to mark Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture.

Other television includes Miss Marple for ITV, Horrible Histories and Tipping the Velvet. Alexei’s films include The Thief Lord, Gorky Park and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Alexei has also established himself as a successful and critically acclaimed novelist.

In recent years he has published three novels, Overtaken, The Weeping Women Hotel and Mister Robert, and two collections of short stories, Barcelona Plates and The Dog Catcher. He has the distinction of being the UK’s best-selling author of short stories.

His autobiography Stalin Ate My Homework is published by Sceptre.
