CUSTOMER service at a supermarket in Hampshire was given a boost by the military in a fundraising event by Hampshire servicemen.
Members of the 17 Port Maritime Regiment in Marchwood packed bags, pushed trolleys and loaded cars for shoppers at Asda in Chandler's Ford.
The soldiers were out in force for two days at the supermarket in Bourne-mouth Road, collecting money for war veterans' charity The Chelsea Pensioners Appeal.
"We are trying to collect as much money as possible so they can build a new wing at the hospital," said Sgt Wayne Culley.
"We have previously been at Asda in Totton and raised more than £1,600, and we hope to beat that with our collections in Chandler's Ford," he added.
