SOME of the country’s top comedians are taking to the Nuffield stage this autumn.

Kicking off the season is Australian funny man Adam Hills.

His long-awaited new show Happyism on September 8, comes to Southampton fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe and promises to be a first-class evening of comedy, with the usual anecdotes and audience participation all delivered in his unique, laid-back style.

Hot on his heels is the brand new show from Seann Walsh.

The star of TV favourites Live at the Apollo and Never Mind The Buzzcocks is hitting The Nuffield stage in his all-new show to prove he is the The Liein King on September 14.

One of the biggest names this season is Father Ted star, Ardal O’Hanlon on October 13.

Havingdelightedaudiences all over the world, he’ll be covering the things that matter and the things that don’t.

The all-time favourite impressionist Alistair McGowan returns to his roots with his new stand-up show, Not Just A Pretty Voice on October 19.

You can look forward to hearing everyone from Andy Murray to Colin Murray, while he asks the important questions like ‘Is Hilary D e v e y Jessie J’s mum?’ and ‘Wha t are we r e all y thinking w h ile watching Shakespeare?’ Due to overwhelming demand last season, Germany’s ‘Comed y Ambassador’, Henning Wehn, is returning this autumn with his show Henning Knows Bestest on October 20.

The godfather of alternative comedy Alexei Sayle is back on October 27 with his first standup show in 17 years.

After two sold-out London seasons, the Liverpudlian legend is hitting the stage at The Nuffield with his fearlessly funny new show.

Another comedy legend, Phill Jupitus, brings his characterbased comedy show You’re Probably Wondering Why I Asked You Here… on November 2 to Southampton.

Based on his 2012 Edinburgh Fringe show, Phill plays three extraordinary characters, just waiting to meet an inquisitive audience.

The Further Adventures of… is the eagerly awaited new show from Josh Widdicombe, star of Live at the Apollo and Mock The Week.

Unable to relax, on November 9 Josh explores his inability to embrace the adventure of life, blaming everyone else for his total lack of enthusiasm.

Another household name, Jeremy Hardy comes to tread the boards at The Nuffield on November 15.

Having been a comedian since 1984, Jeremy swears he’ll be one until he dies or wins the lottery.

Until then, the comic genius is here for your entertainment.

And what comedy season would be complete without a couple of The Comedy Bar – BIG GIGS on October 5 and January 18?

Featuring some fantastic upand-coming comedy talent, with headliners Pete Firman and Terry Alderton, these evenings are a sure fire hit for comedy lovers.
