A JUDGE warned a teenager that carrying a knife, particularly when drunk, could have devastating consequences.
Mr Justice Royce told Luke Bailey: “Sometimes people get knives out in these circumstances and it leads to the death of others.”
The 18-year-old was arrested following a latenight disturbance in Morris Road. He had a butterfly knife with an eight inch blade in a pocket.
The judge at Winchester Crown Court gave him a six-month suspended sentence with 18 months supervision and an order to pay £250 costs.
David Storey, defending, described Bailey as a vulnerable individual who was taken advantage of by others. Bailey, of Commercial Road, Southampton, admitted possessing a bladed article.
