A GOOD neighbour scheme is looking for more volunteers.
The Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours (CFGN) support anyone who cannot be as independent as they would like such as people isolated in their homes due to a lack of available public transport.
Volunteers help by driving people to the hospital, dentist, and doctors, doing errands, taking people to do their shopping and befriending those who are lonely.
Important to the service is that the person will stay with the client, if requested, while the person is at the hospital or other appointment, which is often necessary if their mobility is limited or to give company and reassurance.
At present, the Chandler’s Ford group has 250 clients and only 42 drivers and is appealing for help.
The branch is part of a national charity supporting people in their local area and clients are asked for a donation towards costs according to their means. You can offer as much or as little time as you wish and you can always refuse if it is not really convenient and you will be paid mileage for the use of your car.
