ABANDONED, alone and heavily pregnant.
That was the state of one dog struggling to make her way through the streets of Southampton – until a Hampshire charity came to the rescue.
Blue Cross rehoming centre, a pet charity in West End, Southampton, found the Jack Russell dog, called Blossom, wandering the streets of the Midland Estate in West End.
Blossom – pictured left with Kirsty Smith of Blue Cross – then went into labour and gave birth to four puppies two days later, who were named Murray, Deuce, Ace and Summer in honour of Andy Murray’s Wimbledon win.
Blossom’s puppies – pictured with Laura Boyle, left, and Judith Rivett – are now three weeks old, and need to be with their mother for nine weeks before they can be released.
However, Blue Cross will be looking to find new owners when the puppies are seven weeks old so they can prepare.
To give these puppies a new home, visit bluecross.org.uk or call 0300 777 1530.
