FIRST formed in 1967, It’s A Beautiful Day created a unique blend of rock, jazz, folk, classical and world beat styles. The band was the brainchild of violinist David LaFlamme, a former soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra who unusually played a fivestring violin.
The San Francisco band will be at The Talking Heads on Monday and will be playing all their hits, including the band’s anthem White Bird. The idea for that particular song came from when the band first started out.
Having no money, no food and no transportation, they felt like birds in a cage. They were one of the earliest bands to emerge from San Francisco during the original summer of love.
