AN EXTRA spending of £41,000 on changes to a railway station car park have been rubber-stamped.
The money, approved by Eastleigh Borough Council, will be added to the £180,000 already set aside for the expansion of Hedge End station car park.
The funding is provided as part of the council’s Community Investment Programme The original budget estimate for the proposal to add 38 spaces was £180,000, which was approved by the Cabinet in May 2011, but the revised costing is now £221,000.
A council report said that the necessary borrowing to finance the scheme will be repaid in 25 years based on the assumption of the car park extension will be at 74 per cent capacity in three years.
The car park was previously extended in 2008 when an additional 26 spaces were provided.
