AN annual cricket match has raised more than £1,500 for a charity supporting young sailors.
Hamble pub The Bugle held its charity cricket challenge, in which teams from the pub and other pubs in the village – the King & Queen, The Victory and Ye Olde Whyte Harte – competed for the Cricket Challenge Cup.
They were raising money for the John Merricks Sailing Trust, set up in memory of the Olympic sailor who died in a car crash, which helps sailors and youth sailing organisations.
The contest was won by a team from The Victory pub.
