RESIDENTS are being offered the chance to view plans for a block of retirement homes in a Hampshire village.
Developers want to build 36 “Later Living” apartments and three separate “age-restricted cottages” on the Travers Yard site in Bishop’s Waltham.
The scrapyard at Coppice Hill has seen a reduction in activity in the last five years and proposals for the site now include a manicured lawn, a rose and herb garden and the possibility of a pond.
Retirement home specialists McCarthy and Stone are putting on a display of their proposals at a public exhibition tomorrow between 3pm and 7pm at the Jubilee Hall on Little Shore Lane in Bishop’s Waltham.
Shane Paull, from the firm, said: “We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of the local area and we have worked hard to make sure that our proposal for the site feels like it belongs to Bishop’s Waltham.
“We are keen that what we build is what the local community would like to see in Bishop’s Waltham whilst ensuring it meets the needs of future residents.
“We want to hear from the local community before we submit a planning application and will be displaying our plans at the exhibition.”
