A COLOURFUL family regatta is being planned at a Hampshire yacht club – after bad weather wrecked the early season.
The one-off “King Canute” regatta is being organised by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble with two classes battling it out for the Canute Cup.
Races will take place in the Solent on August 31 with winners being handed invites to the club’s glittering AVEVA-sponsored prize-giving dinner in November.
There will be two “round-the-cans” races offered to both IRC and Club Class divisions.
The overall winning boat will be chosen from the each division by the Race Committee which will have the additional discretion to award extra merit to teams entering into the spirit of the event, family crewed boats, youngest and oldest crew, and fancy dress.
Chairman Colin Hall said: “We might not be able to turn back the tide, but we can help make up for the dreadful weather
