A Southampton man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a firework was thrown at a police officer during an English Defence League rally in Hampshire.
The rally was held to protest against the opening of the Madani Academy Muslim school in Portsmouth.
Police said a 29-year-old man, from Southampton, had been arrested following the attack, which had left a female officer "shaken".
But officers added the organised protest had been "peaceful".
A 23-year-old man, from Portsmouth, was also arrested before the march, on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
The independent faith school for 5-16 year olds is expected to open in the city in September.
