POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a reported “suspicious incident” last night where a young girl looked distressed and was heard screaming in a car.
The child aged about 10 was spotted in a red car in Long Lane, in Hedge End, sometime between 8 and 8.15pm with two men thought to be aged between 40 and 50.
Police say they are keeping an open mind as there may be a perfectly innocent explanation for what happened, but they would like to hear from those involved or from anyone else with information about the incident.
They would also urge the girl to contact them or Childline to confirm she is safe and well.
Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have private CCTV that covers the area that may have caught the incident.
They are asked to call detective constable, Sue Hampton at Eastleigh CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
