TRAINS services in Southampton faced severed disruption during this evening's rush hour - after a fire broke out on the line.
Some were cancelled to allow Hampshire Fire and Rescue crews to extinguish a small blaze on a track conductor on the line near Portswood.
They were called at 5.35pm and took 40 minutes to deal with the incident which is affecting South West Trains.
A Network Rail statement said: “Electrical supply problems are causing disruption between Southampton Central and Eastleigh.
“Because of this, trains between Southampton Central and Winchester may be delayed by up to 30 minutes. These delays will continue until further notice.”
