Hands on hips with a moody gaze – this is Southampton singing star Craig David showing off his striking new look.
You can virtually count every muscle on the pop star’s torso as he takes muscle definition to a new hardcore extreme.
It is the latest look for the superfit 32-year-old – and it is certainly one he is proud of.
R&B singer Craig has now joined a long list of celebrities in the craze of ‘selfies’, where film stars and pop icons post photos of themselves posing on social networking sites.
Other celebrities to have joined in the latest hi-tech trend include singer Rihanna, supermodel Giselle Bundchen and pop star Justin Bieber.
Craig has posted the latest photograph showing off his ripped abs and pecs on his own Instagram social networking site.
The new look is a far cry from the chubby youngster who was brought up on the city’s Holyrood estate and hit fame with his single Seven Days 13 years ago.
Since then the singer has devoted much of his time to keeping fit and lifting weights among the bodybuilders using the famous Muscle Beach in his new home of Miami.
He has even recruited his friend, the UK’s former heavyweight boxing world champion David Haye, to give him training tips. But now the days of bulking up appear to be behind him as he strives for a super-lean and mean new look.
In a letter to fans the former Bellemoor School pupil claims he is using this photo of himself to help him keep his new shape.
He said: “One of the best ways to help yourself stay focused throughout those days when you feel a little weak or lost is to put little reminders around to focus you before you do something you’ll look back on and regret.
“When I’m training hard and about to start my cutting phase where calories are reduced and I know there will be moments where I’ll want to eat every chocolate bar in my cupboard, I just go to this photo on my phone, under the folder “stay focused”, which reminds me instantly to get back on track and in this case reminds me how good it feels when I achieve my goal and don’t listen to my “old inner weakness” voice. Trust me it works!”
