SPORTS clubs are being urged to bid for cash from a funding body that has already ploughed £170,000 into a Hampshire town.
Eastleigh MP Mike Thornton wants groups in the area to apply to Sport England to help pay for projects such as fixing leaking roofs and improving playing surfaces and providing extra coaching and equipment.
He said organisation had invested nearly £170,000 in Eastleigh sports since 2010, including at Weston Sailing Club, Fair Oak Bowling Club and Fleming Park Judo Club.
But more cash is available to help grassroots activity and improving the quality of facilities.
Mr Thornton added: “I’m calling on local sports clubs to put a bid in to Sport England to get the funding they need. Whether it’s getting that roof fixed or buying more equipment, Sport England has five funding programmes available to help local clubs, and I would encourage them to apply.”
