TRAVELLERS have moved on to a patch of council land in a Hampshire town.
An unauthorised encampment of 14 caravans and 34 people has been set up at Passfield Avenue in Eastleigh.
Police have been called in to assess the situation and are speaking with the land owners, believed to be Eastleigh Borough Council.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said the travellers arrived at around 5.20pm yesterday and that they had indicated they will leave for Blandford Steam Fair in Dorset on August 24.
Officers will monitor the situation and have not reported any crime or antisocial behaviour.
