PLANS to make the centre of a Waterside village more pedestrian friendly have been given the go-ahead.
Mel Kendal, Hampshire County Council's executive member for the environment, has approved a £125,000 scheme to improve pedestrian access between Hythe promenade and the parish council's offices at The Grove.
Ramps will be built to slow traffic and the width of the road reduced outside The Grove.
A new paved footway will be created along the promenade, next to the Waitrose supermarket.
