ARMED police were called to a public order incident this evening in Romsey.
Portersbridge Street was closed after a distressed 30-year-old woman within a house threatened to harm herself, police officers and ambulance staff, following a 999 call at 8.30pm.
Hampshire Police say the armed response team did not enter the home but had been called as back up as unarmed officers approached the woman.
She was detained and taken to Southampton General Hospital.
A spokesman said: “There was potential danger to the person involved and to some of the officers who attended.
“There was no suggestion of anyone else in the street being at risk of being hurt.”
The road is now open.
