THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a house fire in Southampton which left two people critically ill.

A seven-year-old boy and his grandmother, aged 51, were today still fighting for their lives following the blaze in Marston Road, Thornhill, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Detectives from Hampshire travelled to Oxfordshire yesterday as part of their investigations into the incident. A 25-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, all from Oxfordshire, were arrested in connection with the incident.

All three people are currently in custody in Oxfordshire, but will be transferred to Hampshire later today.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire shortly after 1.20am yesterday morning.

Two people were seriously injured in the fire.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the fire, or anyone who was in the Marston road area around the time of the incident to contact them.
