A FOREIGN student was robbed in Southampton just hours after arriving in the UK.
The 19-year-old University of Southampton student from Singapore had her mobile phone and bank card taken in the robbery at about 3pm on August 27.
She had only landed at Heathrow at 7am that morning, and had taken a coach to Southampton after entering the UK.
At 3pm she was walking on Commercial Road from the city centre towards the station.
A man came up behind her, snatched her Apple iPhone 5 from her hands and pushed her to the ground.
He then ran up an alleyway next to the Vestry pub, towards the Polygon.
Although she asked two men who were walking the other way to stop him, they ignored her.
The robber is described as a black man in his early 20s, who is slim and about 6ft tall.
He was wearing grey jeans, a light blue or grey t-shirt, a grey beanie hat and trainers.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward, particularly the two men who the student asked for help.
Police Staff Investigator Neil Anderson said: “These men could have important information about the robber, so we really need them to contact us.”
Anyone with information should contact PSI Anderson at Shirley CID on 101.
