The Beautiful South's trusty tour bus pulls up in Bournemouth on Monday for a BIC gig.

Formed in 1989, the band released their tenth album, Superbi, in May which was recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios and mixed by the legendary Bill Price (Sex Pistols, Clash, Gun'n'Roses).

Superbi is the group's first release since 2003s well-received covers album, Golddiggas, Headnodders & Pholk Songs, and vocalist Paul Heaton's hand in its quirky song titles is evident as The Rose of My Cologne, The Cat Loves The Mouse and Never Lost a Chicken to a Fox ably tesify.

The new album also marks the 20th anniversary of Heaton first entering the top ten with The Housemartins.

The BIC concert, capping a year that has included gigs across several continues, promises first airings of the new material mixed with old staples like 36D, Old Red Eyes, Rotterdam, Don't Marry Her and Perfect Ten.

The Beautiful South are at the BIC on Monday, December 11. Box Office: 0870 111 3000.
