A DRAMA has unfolded in the New Forest this evening after a couple got stuck in a bog.
The pair, a man and woman in their 50s, are understood to have been walking in the forest when they got stuck in mud in Lyndhurst.
Fire and ambulance services as well as Solent Coastguard were called to the incident which unfolded near to Beaulieu Road Station, about half a mile from Beaulieu Road.
Fire engines from Lyndhurst, Beaulieu, Eastleigh, Fareham and a water unit from Fareham attended after getting the call just after 7pm and used an inflatable pathway to reach the stranded pair.
The couple were stuck up to their shins and were released an hour and a half later.
They were treated at the scene for the effects of the cold.
The ambulance service's Hazardous Area Response Team as well as two ambulances went to the scene and used a specialist vehicle to get over the rough terrain.
