A divorced father who died after taking a cocktail of prescription drugs had suffered depression following his marriage break-up, an inquest heard.
The body of Gerald Vaughan was found slumped next to tablets in his flat in Cranbury Avenue, Portswood, by friend Peter Sparrow.
A Southampton inquest heard how the 55-year-old suffered depression and had been admitted to a mental health unit following his divorce many years earlier.
The inquest heard how he had become increasingly isolated since the divorce and only received visits from Mr Sparrow.
Three notes were found in the flat showing his intentions to take his own life.
Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a suicide determination.
