A SOUTHAMPTON MP was on hand to cut the ribbon at the re-launch of a city post office.
The branch in Bridge Road, Woolston has undergone a major overhaul and Itchen MP John Denham helped to formally open the new-look store.
It now has an open-plan layout, is also now open until 5.30pm on Saturdays and has even added haberdashery to its retail offering.
It also has a new sub-postmistress – Annette Coombes.
Speaking at the opening Mr Denham said: “I welcomed the news that Woolston Post Office was to be modernised and am delighted to be here today to congratulate Annette Coombes on her hard work and to formally open the new-look branch.”
Ms Coombes said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to modernise the branch.
“Customers are very positive about the changes – the branch is now much brighter and more welcoming.”
