HE has spent his life saving the world from evil megalomaniacs.

Now international super-spy James Bond has worked wonders for one of Hampshire’s top tourist attractions.

Bond in Motion at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, was seen by more than 800,000 visitors during its two-year run, making it the most successful exhibition in the site’s history.

The display, which celebrated half a century of Bond films, featured 50 cars used in the movies and was the largest official collection of original Bond vehicles staged anywhere in the world.

Celebrity guests who viewed the exhibits included Richard Kiel, who played Jaws in two of the films, and Honor Blackman, who starred alongside original 007 Sean Connery in Goldfinger.

A museum spokesman said: “Bond fans came from all corners of the globe and the exhibition contributed to the Beaulieu attraction being recognised as the Large Attraction of the Year at the 2013 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.”

The display, which ended earlier this month, will be replaced with a new exhibition celebrating the achievements of speed king Donald Campbell and other record-breakers.

The spokesman added: “A moving audio-visual presentation transports you back to a golden age of invention, courage and patriotism and introduces you to those who are keeping the record breaking dream alive today.

“Another new display, The Motorcycle Story, immerses you in a journey through motorcycling history.

“Machines are displayed in their historical and cultural context, tying technological developments to changing trends in fashion, style and sport.”

Both displays are due to open in time for Easter.
