HER story of bravery and hope touched many.
But just weeks after being cleared of leukaemia thanks to a bone marrow donation from her four-year-old sister Lauren, baby Abigail Bailey has lost her battle with the disease.
Abigail underwent surgery in October, which doctors hoped would save her life.
But after Christmas parents Andrea and James were told her leukaemia had returned.
The youngster, who had her first birthday on Boxing Day, died on Saturday.
There was further tragedy for the Gosport family because they had not managed to spend Abigail's first Christmas together.
Her two-year-old brother Taylor came down with chicken pox just before the festive celebrations and was not allowed on to the ward at Southampton General Hospital where his sister was being treated.
Abigail was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at just five months old, when lumps started appearing on her head and skin.
