SALISBURY Arts Centre has announced it's spring 2007 event listings - and there's something for everyone.

Opening the season is Ken Loach's award-winning film The Wind that Shakes the Barley. The story of Ireland's fight for independence, this is the first in the spring season of REel Film in collaboration with the Salisbury International Arts Festival.

Taking to the stage is Gary Shelford with Orwell's classic work Animal Farm. Performed as a solo, Shelford uses a wooden box and his own voice to convincingly characterise the animals on the farm. This promises to be a unique performance.

For all dance admirers the Salisbury Arts Centre can boast the return of Taviziva Dance in February. The company's latest work Bophelo combines contemporary dance with traditional African movement.

Also following an African theme is the performance by Black Umfolosi. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the group will perform their acapella harmonies and gospel singing. Black Umfolosi will also include a physical treat of South African Gumboot dancing. Alongside this performance the caf will be offering an African inspired menu. A combined performance and meal ticket is available.

Family fun will be brought to the centre at the start of the half-term holiday with A Bird in the Hand. Josh Elwell's show will delight the whole family involving hand crafted puppets, clowning and live music from Jeremy Avis.

Hoodwink Theatre - the arts centre's resident company - will be involving family audiences in an innovative performance in March. Spring Awakening will include families in an all night magical adventure, taking them to bed in winter and awakening them in spring. The evening includes bedtime stories, midnight feasts, The Dawn Chorus, a spring breakfast and a few magical surprises.

March also sees the highlight of the spring season's Poetry Caf with a guest appearance from poet John Siddique.

The famous story of the Elephant Man also takes place this season as a double bill in April while the spring season's exhibition is Venerating the Vessel by painter Prudence Maltby and potter Julie Ayton. This is based on the ancient words in the Book of Leviticus.
