Southampton's longest running youth theatre is back and ready to rock! The new year starts with a bang as Cinderella Rocks, the latest production from the Gantry Youth Theatre, takes to the stage this week.
An exciting cocktail of traditional fairytale magic and modern music, Cinderella Rocks is guaranteed to have audiences itching to get out of their seats and dance.
Cinderella Rocks sees the timeless tale of a young girl's triumph in the face of unjust oppression from her wicked stepmother, transformed into an entertaining and spectacular musical pantomime.
Written and directed by West End actor Phil Hearne and packed with great rock and pop songs from the 1950s onwards, Cinderella Rocks is set to be the ultimate rock n' roll pantomime. Phil Hearne said: "It's a great night out for cool cats of all ages from toddlers to grannies, and the perfect way to end the Christmas holidays."
Founded in 1989, the Gantry Youth Theatre provides high quality performing arts opportunities for young people and aims to benefit the local community and encourage community learning through its performances.
Helping members to develop interpersonal skills such as confidence and teamwork as well as have a lot of fun, the company's energetic exuberance never fails to translate over to the audience.
Promising an evening of laughter, music and lively performance, this production should simply not be missed and is perfect for all the family.
Cinderella Rocks takes place at Southampton Solent University in the main hall of the Sir John Millais Building, above the Millais Gallery. Performances are daily at 7.30pm with a 4pm matinee performance on Saturday. For tickets call 023 8042 2099.
