A BURGLAR may have locked himself in a bathroom for two hours before fleeing from a house in Hedge End.
The bizarre incident happened when the owner of the house in Billington Gardens returned home and was indoors for about two hours before hearing noises upstairs. It is believed that someone was locked inside a bathroom upstairs.
The homeowner left the property to call the police. During this time it is thought that the intruder left the house through a downstairs window and escaped over a fence at the back of the property. Nothing was taken.
DC Louise Pressley of Hampshire police said: "This is a very unusual incident. It is believed the offender was locked in the bathroom for two hours before the homeowner heard an intruder."
