Hampshire captain Shane Warne today revealed he could yet get back together with former wife Simone.

The world record wicket taker and legendary Australian Test leg-spinner made the revelation in an interview with Michael Parkinson shown on Australian television this morning.

"I have not ruled out getting back together but we both have to work out if that's what we want," said Warne, who got divorced from Simone last year.

"We had to (get divorced), because we had to realise: Did we both want each other?

"Did we want to get back with each other? What did we actually want?

"She might like somebody else, I might like somebody else . . . I might not be able to commit 100 per cent.

"I don't think we want to get back together for the wrong reasons. Only time can tell and we'll see."

Warne, who has just announced his retirement from Test cricket after Australia's 5-0 whitewash over England in the Ashes, added: "Some of the things that I've done and the mistakes I've made I'm not proud of, but it shows I am human.

"I have made mistakes and I will probably make some more in the future. If I had stopped and thought, 'hang on a minute', I wouldn't have done it. But unfortunately I gave in to temptation.

"I have apologised to my wife, who is the only person I have to apologise to."
