SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier is backing a Hampshire-based attempt to set a new world record for the longest line of toy cars.

The former Southampton and England player voiced his support for the project during a charity day at Romsey Golf Club.

The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, is planning to display more than 10,000 toy cars on May 5.

As reported in the Daily Echo, collection boxes have been installed in 21 Sainsbury’s stores across the south in a bid to help Beaulieu beat the current record of 9,795.

Once the attempt has been made the toys will be sold and the proceeds donated to Naomi House children’s hospice at Sutton Scotney, near Winchester, and Jacksplace, a separate facility for people aged 16 and over.

The museum is looking for cars, lorries and tractors designed to be played with by hand. Quad bikes are also eligible, as long as they are not large enough for children to sit on. Children who take two or more toy cars on the day of the record attempt receive half-price admission to Beaulieu.
