CIVIC chiefs are fighting plans for a car wash opposite a busy junction in Totton town centre.
Members of the town council’s planning and transport advisory committee said the scheme would create extra traffic problems as well as adding to air pollution in the area.
The site in Commercial Road is near an air pollution traffic management zone notorious for high levels of traffic fumes.
Cllr George Dart said: “A car wash in that location would be quite inappropriate. The traffic hazard goes without saying.”
