MORE than 12,500 homes have signed up for a third wheelie bin on their drive as part of a new council garden waste scheme in Eastleigh.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s new kerbside collection service has signed up thousands of residents, including more than 2,600 new customers.
Numbers are up 11 per cent on the previous scheme.
A 240-litre bin collected every fortnight replaces the previous 90-litre sacks that are collected weekly.
Residents are being offered a money-back guarantee after six weeks’ service if they are not satisfied.
The council says the scheme offers greater flexibility and better value for money and will save residents time and money with fewer trips to local recycling centres.
