SOUTHAMPTON based charity the Rose Road Association has raised £6,000 in collections over Christmas.
The money will be used for its work with young disabled people in the Southampton area.
Two collections at Hedge End Retail Business Park raised more than £2,000 and one at the Itchen Bridge on December 15 brought in nearly £4,000.
The volunteer collectors were supported by musicians and singers from Hampshire who played and sang Christmas music and carols to entertain shoppers at Hedge End.
Gary Thomasson, fundraising events co-ordinator, said: "I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated so generously to help in all our work.
"Also to all the volunteers, staff and trustees who helped to collect this fantastic amount of money over December.
"A special thank you goes to all the bands, musicians and singers who gave their time for the collections. Without their amazing sounds it would not have been so successful."
