A SAILOR had to be rescued from a ship at Southampton docks last night after a lifeboat fell on him.
One of the emergency lifeboats on the Nagato Reefer dropped down, hitting the man on his head.
South Central Ambulance Service confirmed today that they were called just before 5pm yesterday.
At least three ambulances were seen on the quayside.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service sent its heavy-duty turntable ladder platform vehicle, and used the extendable ladder to reach the deck where the incident happened.
The Nagato Reefer, registered in Panama, was built in 2000, and is a regular visitor to the Hampshire port.
The injuries suffered by the victim are not thought to be life-threatening.
