A RARE opportunity has arisen to hear the Winchester-based Band and Bugles of the Rifles perform at Winchester Cathedral.
They will be joined by the Luard Trio, a group of classically trained singers, in a celebration of British music at a concert on Saturday, April 26 at 7.30pm.
The occasion will raise funds for the Friends’ Windows Appeal.
The appeal aims to raise £800,000 towards the conservation of the medieval glass in the Presbytery of the cathedral, which needs urgent work.
Since last February, £550,000 has been raised.
Major Lawrence Sale said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the band to perform within the local community and engage with a worthwhile charity.
Tickets are available from the cathedral box office priced £25, £18 and £10.
There is an opportunity to meet the Band and Bugles of the Rifles at a preconcert reception for £30 (including a topprice ticket).
