WORKS on a busy Hampshire railway bridge has been suspended in time for the Easter period.
Hampshire County Council and Network Rail have reopened the bridge on the B3055 between Brockenhurst and Sway following representations from the community and the council.
Network Rail has further work to do on the bridge to bring it up to strength, but the bridge will remain open during the summer.
The work is expected to be completed during the late autumn and winter months.
Cllr Sean Woodward, executive member for economy, transport and environment, said: “Hampshire County Council, local businesses and Network Rail were able to reach a satisfactory solution thanks to a meeting chaired by councillor
Ken Thornber, local county council member for Brockenhurst, and currently the county Council’s chairman.
“I commend Cllr Thornber’s part in chairing this meeting and helping to secure this positive outcome.”
