LIFEBOAT crews towed a yacht out of the path of an approaching container ship.
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat raced to help after two young sailors on board radioed Solent Coastguard yesterday (Friday) afternoon.
It happened near the Thorn Channel at the entrance to Southampton Water just as the 153,000 tonne Hyundai Dream was approaching in the Solent.
The 6.5-metre yacht, on passage from Lymington to its home port in Hamble, was unable to make headway due to light winds and a failed engine.
They were towed to Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes.
