Sailing star Alex Thomson gets freedom of city
SAILING star Alex Thomson, above, has been given the freedom of his Hampshire home town.
Alex Thomson was bestowed with the Freedom of the Borough of Gosport at a ceremony yesterday.
The 39-year-old was honoured following a march along Gosport High Street led by drummers from the HMS Sultan Volunteer Band.
Mr Thomson was the youngest skipper to win the Clipper Round the World race in 1999.
